Dream chasers
Why you never bump into dream chasers and identifying your areas of dissatisfaction.
You rarely meet those extraordinary examples of people who are chasing their life's dream.
The people who obsess and persist with no end in sight, and who found their calling and overcame the insurmountable challenge of keeping it alive.
Yes, we see the superstars.
There are countless examples of people who made their dreams a reality - the Hollywood actors, championship winners, the titans of commerce - but we rarely seem to meet these people while they're going through their growth years.
And anyway, how would you know the difference between the delusion who won't ever make it, the lucky and the unlucky, and the hero, before any of the results come in?
Dream chasers are rare and difficult to spot. You won't find them screaming from the rooftops, and by definition, they're not average.
Why not me?
It begs the question.
Are you satisfied with the kind of life you have now, or have you stopped asking yourself, "but why not me?".
Some of the best reminders to make the most of your life are through watching documentaries. Seeing the backstory of a sports star or musician who keeps showing up when no one is showing up for them is inspiring.
You could argue that someone could apply themselves to a more meaningful pursuit, but it's hard not to appreciate that special mix of self-confidence, humility, determination, and play that enables someone to aim for the extremes of human capacity.
One of my favorite examples is golfer Matt Fitzpatrick from the Netflix documentary Full Swing. If you can stomach watching a golfing documentary, I highly recommend it.
